Vernissage / Opening I Exposition Anselm Kiefer - Galerie Thaddaeus Ropac Paris-Pantin

Cinq ans après l’exposition d’Anselm Kiefer pour l’inauguration de notre espace de Pantin et à la suite de sa rétrospective au Centre Pompidou en 2016, la Galerie Thaddaeus Ropac a le plaisir d’annoncer la présentation d’une nouvelle série d’œuvres de l’artiste à Paris. L’exposition 'Für Andrea Emo', montrera une sélection d’une vingtaine de tableaux ainsi que trois sculptures explorant le thème de la sédimentation du souvenir cher à Anselm Kiefer. Ces vitrines, qui mettent en scène une connexion spirituelle entre différents éléments, sont autant de fossiles ou d’artefacts mis au jour, autant de micro-fictions à déchiffrer. D’une inventivité formelle inédite, les tableaux reflètent l’intérêt que l’artiste porte depuis longtemps à l’idée de destruction et de régénération. En faisant couler du plomb en fusion, Anselm Kiefer oblitère l’image originale et insuffle ainsi une nouvelle vie à ses propres œuvres dans un geste radicalement iconoclaste.

Five years after Anselm Kiefer’s exhibition for the inauguration of our gallery in Pantin, and following his retrospective at the Centre Pompidou in 2016, Galerie Thaddaeus Ropac is pleased to announce the presentation of a new series of works by the artist in Paris. The exhibition 'Für Andrea Emo' brings together a selection of around twenty paintings along with three sculptures, which reflect the sedimentation of memory cherished by the artist. The vitrines encapsulate a spiritual connection between several elements. They appear as many fossils or artefacts to unearth, as many micro- fictions to decipher. With an unprecedented formal inventiveness, the paintings reflect the artist’s continuous interest in the process of destruction and regeneration. By pouring molten lead, Anselm Kiefer obliterates the original image and brings to life his own work in a radically iconoclastic gesture.
