We have seen enormous interest and hype around extended reality (XR) technologies in recent years. However, though new advancements and interest have been generated with the Metaverse or Spatial Computing, it seems that XR is still not ubiquitous in our digital lives. In contrast, we see that other technologies, in particular, artificial intelligence (AI), for example, large-language models, became mainstream.
In my talk, I will reflect on the current state and potential future developments in XR. Furthermore, I will show some examples, which highlight how AI and XR can be combined and provide novel means for human-computer communication and interaction.
