Abstract:
At the molecular scale, chirality gives rise to specific light–matter interactions known as chiroptical properties. Among these, circularly polarized luminescence (CPL) can be exploited in circularly polarized OLEDs, enabling the reduction of energy losses associated with the use of anti-glare filters. This PhD work focuses on the synthesis and investigation of chiral helicenic bimetallic complexes incorporating two gold or platinum metal centers. The molecular design was conceived to promote metal–metal interactions, in order to study their influence on the structural, photophysical, and chiroptical properties. The objective was to develop complex bimetallic architectures capable of emitting circularly polarized light in the near-infrared region. Some of these architectures exhibited unprecedented asymmetric molecular organizations and enhanced circularly polarized phosphorescence properties.
