Dans le cadre de la décennie internationale des personnes d’ascendance africaine (2015-2024), à l’initiative de l'UNESCO (https://fr.unesco.org/decade-people-african-descent), le Pitch Me invite le chercheur cap-verdien César Fortes-Lima à venir présenter son travail en histoire génétique des populations. Par la lecture des travaux de Richard & Sally Price (http://www.ventsdailleurs.fr/index.php/catalogue/item/les-premiers-temps), il s'est passionné pour les sociétés #NegMawon du #Suriname, notamment, dont il a voulu amplifier l'historicité en les connectant de manière fiable et précise à la région dont ils furent déportés (#Dahomey #Bénin).
Il y a quelques semaines, paraissait un communiqué de presse du CNRS pour annoncer la publication de son article dans la prestigieuse revue The American Journal of Human Genetics : "Histoire génétique | A la recherche des racines africaines des communautés Noirs Marrons", http://www.guyane.cnrs.fr/spip.php?breve151.
La rencontre se fera en espagnol, langue maternelle de César, l'interprète Lucia Gomez Amorocho fera la liaison en français.

"Nowadays, genetic data has proved to be a useful way of supplementing the inadequate historical documents regarding to the origin and ethnicity of enslaved Africans. Indeed, genetic data is increasingly being used to reconstruct ancestral origins and to identify family ties, even when they extend back for hundreds of years. Heritage is, however, too complex to be reduced to simple genetic sequences. With respect to the transatlantic African diaspora, genetic data are proving to be important complement to historical, linguistic, ethnographic, and archaeological data in family tree reconstructions. In conjunction with data from other disciplines, genetic data can give more robust information on : the African diaspora and African migration ; evidence for gene flow between Africans groups and non-Africans groups ; and evidence for genetic drift and in some cases founder effects."
