Climate change and overfishing have placed increasing pressure on our
ecosystems over the last few decades. It is critical to expand our knowledge on not only threatened species, but also on commercially exploited species so that mitigation strategies could be developed to ensure their sustainability.
Basic ecological and biological information on commercially harvested octopuses in southeast Australia are still very scarce. Using a multidisciplinary approach, I studied the population genomics, environmental proteomics, and feeding behaviour of octopuses in southeast Australia for my PhD, as I aim to lay an important foundation on the knowledge of these ecologically and commercially significant species.
