Emerging aquatic insects are increasingly known for their various roles in terrestrial environments: pollinators, prey for many predators, potential role in fertilizing soils adjacent to aquatic areas... These ecological roles depend on the movements of adults after their emergence. But little is known about the terrestrial stage of aquatic insects. In this presentation, we will investigate how both morphology and body stores can shed light on the flying capacties and the life-history traits of aquatic insects.
